Council will hold a Statutory Public Meeting under s. 34 and 39 of the Planning Act to consider a Temporary Use By-law as it pertains to Zoning By-law 101-2015. The proposed amendment would rezone the subject lands from RR – Rural Residential Zone to RR-T Rural Residential Temporary Use Zone.
The Request for Service online tool will be temporarily unavailable from January 25 at 8:00 p.m. until January 26 at 4:00 a.m. for a software update.
2026 Interim Tax Bills have been sent by mail as of Thursday, January 15, 2026 for all City of Kenora property owners. Due date for payment is February 24, 2026.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Mayor Andrew Poirier, Councillor Robert Bernie, Councillor Barbara Manson, and Co-CAO’s Heather Pihulak and Stace Gander will join more than 1,900 participants from across the province at the 2026 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference. The conference is being held in downtown Toronto, from January 18 to 20, 2026.
The City is excited to announce that the Keewatin Branch Library is now open to the public. A Grand Opening, in partnership with Kenora Public Library Board and New Horizons Senior Centre, will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 3 p.m. The Grand Opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from Hon. Greg Rickford and Mayor Andrew Poirier.
Take notice that, in accordance with Section 28 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, the Corporation of the City of Kenora will hold a Public Open House and the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kenora will hold a Statutory Public Meeting to consider a proposed new Community Improvement Project Area and Community Improvement Plan (CIP).
Please be advised that on Wednesday, January 14, Main Street South between Second Street South and Third Street South will be closed to allow for the safe removal of the Main Street Christmas tree and seasonal decorations.
Due to high volumes, some curbside collection customers in Lakeside did not have garbage and recycling collected today, Tuesday, January 6. For those Lakeside locations missed today, have garbage and recycling at the curb by 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 7.
As of January 1, 2026, Ontario’s CO Alarm requirements have changed. Homeowners and landlords need to be aware of updates to the Fire Code to keep all households safe.
